Ray Lewis is a good , aggressive , passionate, and very motivated player. The owners of Baltimore surely gets their money worth with him. But, he cannot take over a game like everyone wants you to believe he can. Yes, he has made big plays that secured the victory or lead to a victory, but I am speaking about being an overall impact player, that teams need to develop a game plan around. Not going to happen, not based on a Linebacker.
If you looked at Faulks first TD tonight, you will notice that Ray Lewis just got his ass blasted back into the endzone from about the seven yard line. That should immediately tell people that this guy can be dominated and taken out of the picture just like any other LB. Now DL is another story.
Ray Lewis is a good player , because of the qualities which I stated above he possesses. But he is a good player also because he has a football instinct of being where the ball is. He has a six sense of feeling where the play is going and thus enables him to react positively to it. This is a rare quality, as most players are reactionary players, meaning they have to have something happen in front them to be able to react. Ray Lewis, like I mentioned has an instinctive quality that allows him to act first not to react.
But , my point is that he cannot impact or control the game like others believe he can, not by just being on the field. Nope, wont happen. Now if you were a CB, who is supposely your best athletes on the team, now they can cause you to change or formulate a special game plan back of this talented CB. Remember, Deion Sanders and his dominant play at corner in his prime time days. He could basically shut down half of the playing field, as teams were afraid to throw the ball his way. Now that is dominant. That is an impact player who deserves recognition and demands respect just for being on the field. Ray is just another player, and people I want you to understand this. Next time you feel a game will be won because of one man , a LB. This man needs the support of all the other ten players on defense. Whereas this shut down corner depends on no one but his play making and dominant athletisim that makes your entire opponents team shake just thinking about having to throw the ball to that side of the field. Well gang, in the NFL, nobody like Deion exist today. He was a Phenom in his prime and a very rare player. Aloha.
